The Immigration Reform Law Institute said that from 2012 to 2016 there were “39 million instances where names and Social Security numbers on W-2 tax forms did not match the corresponding Social Security records.”
The group said that there is a “thriving black market” used by illegal immigrants to get Social Security numbers needed to get a job.
Their report draws attention to a move by former President Obama to stop sending so-called “no match” letters to employers notifying them that numbers used by employees on the wage forms do not match their identity.
The change followed the president’s decision to approve amnesty for some 700,000 younger immigrants let into the United States under his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Some of those have been dubbed “dreamers.”
Several groups promoting immigration reform and limitations have shown that illegal immigrants compete with low income Americans for jobs.

Identity theft in any form used to be very serious in this country, not any more. People caught are often not even charged and when they are a slap on the wrist. The change was brought about to protect illegals, encourages all sorts of people to do the wrong thing.
I just read in a paper this am that a man was arrested for simply impersonating a police officer- didn’t steal anyone’s identity, didn’t cripple the police department financially like identity thieves do to their victims- etc- just for impersonating a police officer- guess what color he was? Yep white- legal citizen- Had it been an illegal invader, I doubt he would have even been arrested-
That happens...a lot. Some employers even provide numbers for illegals that work for them to fill in the blanks.
And I am one of them.

I found out when the IRS and the state told me I had already filed my taxes and gotten a big refund.

Since children can’t work until they are 16, just return to the old way. You could not get a SS card until then. I remember it as sort of a rite of passage. Until then any lawful employment could be reported on the parents return (on another schedule). I cannot see this making the tax forms any more complicated than they already are.

The reason they don't do crap to stop it is because illegals are made citizens who vote for democrats. My guess is there's big money involved in paying off corrupt democrats to keep the 'protection rackets' going... You want to know who's really working against Trump? The reason they switched to giving newborns a social security number is because divorced parents were BOTH using the kids as dependents. Was very hard to trace.
Until newborns got Social Security numbers, a person filing & claiming a dependent did NOT have to list the dependent’s social Security number.......
That's a reasonable conclusion, but the reality is probably lots fewer than 39 million.
