I’m from Somerset, and I go there frequently. I was very, very disappointed at how everyone handled that memorial.

It took FOREVER to complete, was nearly abandoned 3 times that I visited and the site was just a dirt lot.

Even upon completion I visited it to see no one there. Buildings closed. 3pm.

I used to marvel at Windmill #1 in Somerset up on the hill. They had a nice garden there and a plaque dedicated to the project manager (Or engineer?) of the site who died on that plane. Now it’s razed and a patch of weeds replaced it.

I was disappointed. It could have been beautiful - a hidden gem to those closest to the incident. Instead it was just ... forgotten and paved over.

Even in Norwalk CT one of the first trade center memorials went up. It’s quite nice. Small, but it’s revered by everyone involved.

When was the last time you were there? We went Memorial Day of last year. We live nearer to US 30, so did't even look for the local access roads near Shanksville & Somerset.

Have those roads been cut off? There was also a very tastefully done memorial chapel on one of those roads. Is that gone as well?
