A Dallas police officer who fatally shot her neighbor in his apartment, claiming she mistook the unit for her own, told the authorities that the door was already ajar when she entered and that she shot him after he ignored verbal commands, according to court records released on Monday.
The officer, Amber R. Guyger, 30, who has been charged with manslaughter, could face additional charges in a case that has led to accusations that the officer received preferential treatment and debate about whether race may have played a role in the deadly encounter between a white police officer and a black man in his home.
On Monday, the Dallas County district attorney, Faith Johnson, insisted that the investigation into the death of the neighbor, Botham Shem Jean, 26, had not ended and that her office could seek charges including anything from murder to manslaughter.
Well present a thorough case to the grand jury so that a right decision can be made, Ms. Johnson said at a news conference.

pretty good bet. They almost always do, and its been open season on civilians for years.
This was murder plain and simple.
She was taken in for manslaughter but a grand jury will be set and they will decide on the charge.
If there is justice in this world, she will be charged with murder.
I like how in the arrest warrant the referred to the, “Victim” as the, “Complainant”.
Gezzz...
A usually somewhat reliable source says there are photos of him and her together in his and in her apartment. If true, that puts a whole ‘nother layer on this.
Yea it certainly seems like they may have known each other. If that is the case it certainly is murder and she is trying to use the thin blue line to get out of it. Judging by how long they took to detain her, it looks like the thin blue line is doing exactly what we have come to expect them to do. Cover for their own.
Her commands?
Effing dumb girl fail
Look at that tight hair pull and greasy bun
Southerners know what that says about her
Pass the drumstick
Tragic irony isnt it per my first reply to you
“Its worth a murder conviction.”
The left are using it for more.
Personal conversation. Time will tell how accurate it is. I’m skeptical enough to flag the source as “usually somewhat reliable”, but willing to give a heads up on the possibility. I’m betting by this time tomorrow we’ll know one way or the other.
How is this a left v. right issue?
Which side, left or right thinks Amber should be charged with murder and which side left or right believes Amber acting in a proper manner?
It was 10 p.m. The victim could have been asleep and just woke, then whammo!.
Btw, if she's alleging it was dark and she saw the victim as a silhouette, then the victim likely saw the uniformed shooter as a silhouette as well.
That would mean the victim had no idea if it was a really a cop yelling at him.
It is already open season on civilians by trigger-happy, over-armed cops that can do anything with impunity.
5’3” cop? Why are there 5’3” cops? It’s bad enough we have female cops when there are plenty of men available to do the job.
BTW, it’s always a good idea to keep the aparment door locked, even when home.
No offense taken. Source is tapped in to the ‘Autism Army’. (I wonder why is’t not called the Charlie Chans?)
That and $5 will get you a cup of lousy coffee at Starbucks.
Treat it as you would any other rumor you’ve gotten from someone who is right about 70% of the time. Compare that to the NTY’s track record...
Lets not go overboard here. That statement almost sounds like hands up dont shoot propaganda. The vast majority of cop shoots are clean and very few ever in their career ever have to draw their weapon. There are literally hundreds of thousands of cops nationally and millions of interactions between officers annually with less than 1% involved in shootings and less than that that are questionable. Dont castigate the larger whole because of a few bad apples.
