If you are fleeing from the storm make sure to take photos of every room and if you have a shed or garage outside take photos of the contents. It will help with your insurance claims. Serial numbers will help.

May God watch over them.

The tough decision is to leave one’s home open to vandals and looters or stay and possibly be in mortal danger. Tough decision. Leaving must be the choice in this case.

Towns on rivers where ocean water may surge into and flood, that are at high risk and people should consider leaving right now:

Cape Fear River (Wilmington, Hampstead)
New River (Jacksonville, Camp Lejeune)
White Oak River (Swansboro, Cedar Point)
Newport River (Morehead City, Wildwood)
Neuse River (James City, New Bern)
Pamlico River (Greenville, Washington)
Chowan River (Nags Head, Elizabeth City, Edenton, Winton)

If you look at the 11am and 2pm forecasts versus the one from 8am , the cone got larger. Charleston appears to be back in hurricane watch and all of SC is back inside the cone. Cone center didn’t move much if any that i can tell. If it stays on the centerline for landfall near wilmington the upstate should be fine but Fayetteville/Ft Bragg (son’s loc) would have a 19% chance of Cat 1 winds. ugh- three more days of these reports is gonna cause stress.

maybe not much larger but it more like shifted south by half the height of W.Va (2pm versus 5pm on 9/10)

Those outlets are going to turn into inlets with the rain and surge.

Yes! The predictions are all over the place. One certainty is that there will be wind and rain all over the place. Flooded roads, downed trees & power lines, long traffic lines, bare grocery shelves, power outages and family stress.

Just need our faith in God restored to help us through these anxieties.

Another headache - family member was told her office was closed until Monday 9/16 - THEN when the evacuation was lifted she was told to report to work tomorrow 9/12 - after paying for an out of State hotel.

Nothing seems to be working out!!!!!!!!!

Yes. My daughter told me she was taking 360 panoramic photos of every room as well as the outside of the house - just in case they need to prove damage.

Ugh- the inland portion forecast is moving south, not north.
8pm forecast has northern half of Va and Wva in the clear. Cone now covers most of Ga. Asheville may no longer be a go to spot. not good

Tomorrow is a judgment call, depends on the traffic and weather.

Thursday and Friday stay home unless otherwise noted.

Thank you. Things are kinda settling down here in Aiken County. Predictions are Florence will pass north of us.

Feel sorry and offer prayers for folks who will be hit hard.

Up here in PA, we got battered by Hurricane Sandy some years back ; uprooted a damn tree in my yard, almost came down on my house. My son and I basically hopped on the trunk and directed it onto an open area.

Was literally teetering by a feeder root from the rootball.

Power was out, water flooded all over. A real mess. And I’m pretty far inland, so it was bad.
