A 30-year old off-duty Dallas police officer has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of 26-year-old Botham Shem Jean on Thursday night.
Four-year Dallas police veteran Amber Guyger was taken into custody at 7:20 p.m., according to Kaufman County jail records.
Guygers Bond was set at $300,000 and she posted bail less than an hour after being arrested, jail records stated.
Moments earlier on Sunday, Jeans family attorney Lee Merritt met with Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson presenting new evidence and demanding that Guyger be taken into custody.

Wow. She’s spending her Sunday night knowing most of America is thinking she’s the stupidest woman in the country. What must THAT be like?
“Yeah. Not only was it his house, the guy was an accountant.”
And there is no reason to belive that he was her accountant, but if he was, it may had been justified.
She might eat her gun.
Sadly, that wouldn’t surprise me.
She looks like she’s had a couple bad days. I doubt it’s going to get better any time soon.
There had been outcry from Jean’s family and the public over the fact
that Guyger had not been arrested for days after the shooting.
Within an hour of Guyger being booked into jail, Jean’s family’s
attorney S. Lee Merritt said he had no information about why she
hadn’t been arrested, or when she would be.
Dallas police Chief U. Renee Hall said Saturday that a judge had not yet
signed a warrant for Guyger because the Texas Rangers, which took over
the investigation Friday, had learned new information and wanted to
first investigate further.
GUILTY.
Shes gonna get a pussy pass and a cop pass on this.
It is fuching sickening.
She just got off the elevator on the wrong floor without realizing it. Every floor is practically identical, and you’re on autopilot.
Yes, I have put my key in the wrong lock - ooops, that door says 1026, not 1226!
Well, Botham Jean isn’t spending nor will ever spend a Sunday night knowing anything, ‘cause he’s dead.
IMHO, she got the better deal.
Well, I hope not.
They finally charged her with manslaughter?
This case seems to be a bit bizarre if I do say so.
“Every floor is practically identical, and youre on autopilot.”
Are all the apartments furnished identically?
Are the numbers on the doors identical?
Well it seems this is going to get a little more bizarre.☺
One floor IIRC from information on a different Thread via a Link to some other source I cannot remember at this time.
She doesn't look that bad in the above photo.
I’m just talking about the interior corridors and the apartment doors. There is usually no natural light, and it might not be very brightly lit if the landlord is cheap.
More importantly, people coming home are usually thinking about something else. They don’t look where they’re going, because they have gotten off the elevator, turned right, and put their key in the fourth door down a thousand times before.
Rawlings told reporters Saturday afternoon that Guyger was able to get inside
Jean’s apartment because the door was open. But that claim was contradicted
Saturday evening by a FOX 4 reporter who cited police as saying Guyger
was on the wrong floor and the door was closed.
“Her key didn’t work in the door,” Steve Eager wrote. “Shooting happened
shortly after resident opened his own door.”
