This one time, at band camp, we watched an old people movie. It was in black and white. All the people in it are now either really old or dead. Harry Bergert or something like that. It was about a hurricane in Florida. It was a long time ago. Some windows got broke, a bunch of trees came down. A drunk old lady sang really bad, and some gangsters got killed and I think an old guy in a wheelchair. Then the sun came out. I thought hurricanes were only invented after the global climate warming changing thing started. But I guess people knew about hurricanes a long time ago, too. I don’t know how they knew, or they got ready, and they didn’t have names to call them. Just “Hurricane”.
Lived on the FL east coast for 20 years. Bought the plywood and hardware at notice of our first hurricane. Marked each piece and stored them all in the garage for the next one.
The morons who bought the Brevard home from us threw them out, even knowing what they were for. Not because they were replacing with modern shutters or other protection options, just wanted to remove the "clutter".
Key Largo
Key Largo was the movie.
“Harry Bergert”
Yeah, he was in Key Largo with Loona Beckel and Alfred G. Rolberton.
