Your comment is correct and what I meant.

SpeedyInTexas your statements have all been completely correct. And being assembled in Vietnam most likely will mean that these Samsung phones along with many others not assembled in China will not pay a cent of the duties about to be assessed on Chinese imports.

Roadcat, is doing what the media and anti-Trumpers always seem to do... trying to confuse the issue by bringing in an outside entity, Samsung. Samsung is a multinational based in South Korea which has plenty of products assembled abroad. But unlike Apple, the vast bulk of Samsung’s capital expenditures directly benefit South Korea. Apple is based in the United States but in proportion to their Trillion dollar market value, they spend an inexcusably meager amount on capital expenditures within the United States.

The best example roadcat was able to come up was a $500 million dollar investment in North Carolina. So lets see $500 million divided by $1 Trillion... 500,000,000 / 1,000,000,000,000 = 0.0005 or 1/2000th of Apple's value spent on a “data center” that provides 50 “direct” jobs to people in North Carolina. How generous of them!

So as roadcat wishes lets compare Samsung to Apple in how they assist the economy of the country where they are based. “Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) said on Tuesday it will invest at least $18.6 billion in South Korea to extend its lead in memory chips and next-generation smartphone displays, in a plan that promises to create almost half a million jobs” https://www.reuters.com/article/us-samsung-elec-chips/samsung-plans-18-6-billion-south-korea-investment-to-widen-chip-lead-idUSKBN19P06T

Samsung reportadly spent nearly 10% of their market value investing in their home country and created nearly “half a million” jobs there. Wouldn't it be nice if Apple decided to spend 10% of their market valuation in investments here in the United States? Heck it would be nice if they chose to spend 1% of their market value on investments here that created thousands of jobs. But as I said before, I wouldn't hold my breath. Apple is too busy helping the Chinese government crack down on dissidents, banning conservative apps from their app store, and promoting the LGBTQHYW lifestyle to spend money on capital expenditures and create jobs here in America.

As far as I and the numbers are concerned Samsung is a very good corporate citizen in their home country while Apple is a disgusting example of pure greed and self importance.

You're a horrible liar, and making things up again. Grow up. I never came up with that example, and certainly never made the case it was the best example. Liar.

Apple has many facilities in the USA, unlike Samsung (crickets...). And Apple is investing $350 billion over the next 5 years in the U.S.A. That is billions, not millions. That averages out to $70 billion a year - a far cry from the $500 million you said. Why don't you try being an American for once, and buy American products instead of pushing commie Samsung stuff that is Korean.
