She's trying to win the contest. That requires saying things the judges want to hear. Absolutely correct. On a related note, I remember a charity Hooters competition where the girls were asked "what is your favorite car". The newer girls didn't understand the game and said things like BMW, Mercedes, etc. The girls who had been around got the guys hooting and hollering for her when they would say "F150 pickup truck". They knew their audience!
