Bobby wanted to be the next Sinatra, and in 1959 he staked his claim with “Mack the Knife.” It takes a great song to withstand this kind of treatment. This 1957 recording was a demo for Ahmet Ertegun at Atlantic Records, and it impressed him enough to sign Bobby for his label.
