With its central emphasis on free trade There is a religious cult aspect to so called "free trade" and it's disciples.

I think that we have to consider the source and begin there.
I have no reason to believe that this “high level administration official” even exists. If the NYT wishes to publish a compendium of their opinions about Trump, what better way than to package this drivel in the cloth of and unnamed insider? The Times is trying to leverage what little remains of their reputation in an anonymous OP/ED piece as if it were real. There is no insider.

Nope, not compared to me LOL, but compared to Rubio, Sasse, Swalwell, Nunes, etc who all would love to be elected president, at age 66 (when he can run) Pence does seem a bit older.

He doesn’t strike me as the power hungry go getter, type, but I guess you never know what’s in a man’s heart.

And I can’t imagine why, what with what he’s witnessed in his position, he would WANT the job.

Please believe me, I like Pence. He has been a very good “Robin” for Trump. I was simply throwing around a thought as to who gains a lot quickly if Trump gets removed.

A golden age of peace and prosperity through free trade and “democracy”, the religion of the preacher Woodrow Wilson. It is not just a difference of economic opinion with a lot of these people.
To: entropy12
Well, I’m glad I’m a nobody.
Not interested in power grabs and having all that responsibility.

"Pence is an establishment hack." I have been happy with Pence as VP. Can you point to anything he has said or done as VP to support your position? Maybe I have missed something...

I don’t think it was Mike Pence either - but it was someone who used some of his ‘pet words’ and wanted to tar him with the possibility.
I’m guessing a woman who doesn’t like Pence OR Trump and was a Jeb or McCain follower.

He (Pence) doesn't stand up for nationalism, FAIR trade, tariffs or any other of Trumps positions. He doesn't say anything because he doesn't believe in MAGA. It is clear. What has he done to support Trump? NOTHING.
Pence is to Trump What Bush I was to Reagan. He is a disaster.

The Republicans owned the tariff and were not Free Traders at all until the glowBULLists took over the party after
Bretton Woods.

LOL!! Is the Left running scared, or what?
To: metmom
Apparently the writer used several obscure words used by various administration officials.
For a person who claimed they were acting to try to make the government run better, they seem to have been aiming mostly to destroy things.
