The governor, who has long called Kyl a mentor, contacted the former senator in the hours following McCain’s Aug. 25 death. The two have forged a close bond and are like-minded, pro-growth conservatives.

Arghhhh...so if Kyl steps down the end of the year, Ducey wins in November, he could ultimately appoint a McCain.

This smells like a set-up to me.

Ducey appoints Kyl and gets reelected in November and then Kyl steps down in December and then with his reelection over with, Ducey appoints Meghan McCain.

No wonder Cindy McCain is so happy with this pick.
