To digress, it was around 1987, and I had a train layover in Washington for a couple of hours, so I walked from Union Station to the Capitol to see what was going on.

The Senate was in session so I went there. Teddy Kennedy was giving a speech against Robt. Bork. I was in the balcony and was seated directly over his right shoulder. He has some preppy acolyte who was turning the pages for him.

Apparently it was all for show or the record. There were not 10 people on the floor, and maybe 30 in the gallery.

I cannot remember a word of his diatribe, but I was there FWIW. No conservative hecklers for drunken Teddy.
