Unfortunately, the last Republican Mayor Chicago elected, Big Bill Thompson in 1927, was a mobbed-up fiasco. Pretty much like your average Democrat.
Big Bill Thompson was lily white compared to the rats that followed him. Chicago is filled with public works projects that Bill the Builder constructed that are still in good repair.
