Scientifically Hispanics and Middle Easterners are white.
It’s not all about skin color or Asians would also be considered white but I think they are considered Mongoloid if I remember right.
So I guess the moral of the story is race isn’t about skin color as much as it’s about ancestry.
The term "Hispanic" can be used to refer to any mix of races, from pure European-white of Spanish descent, to pure Native American from south of the Rio Grande, to pure black. They can speak Spanish, Portuguese, or native language.
As commonly used in the US, it indicates somebody who is, to a large extent, genetically native.
Also, in common usage in the US, "white" indicates somebody who is predominantly of European descent.
