Dick's Sporting Goods is reaping the results of entering politics as a corporate entity.
The purpose of public corporations is to make money for their stockholders. Fortunately, over half of Americans own stock. If you want some corporate profits, add stocks or an index fund to your 401k or other retirement accounts.
When corporations move away from their basic purpose, and into the political realm, they cannot help by alienate some potential customers. When you reduce potential customers, you reduce profits.
Dick's Sporting Goods decided to alienate a significant number of potential customers. They decided to take sides in an acrimonious political debate. They decided to stop carrying certain rifles in their stores, for purely political reasons. They decided to stop selling rifles and shotguns to an entire age group: 18, 19, and 20-year-old people.
There are about 80-100 million gun owners in the United States. Gun owners, as a group, have somewhat higher incomes than people who do not own guns. The political decision to alienate such a large group of potential customers has taken its toll. From foxbusiness.com:
The embattled sports retailer reported a same-store sales decline of 4 percent compared to the same period one year earlier, or about 1.9 percent when not accounting for the 53rd week in the year. For the full year, Dicks expects same-store sales to fall by 3 percent to 4 percent, compared to a 0.3 percent decline last year.

Good article.
I drive by the local Dick’s Sporting Goods store, in a large mall, and the parking lot in front is almost always empty. Even on the usually busy weekends. People have gone elsewhere.
Trump’s economy is so successful we had to lengthen the year to computerate our profit margin. Dick’s has been insolvent since the millisecond it fired an able bodied white man from its then firearms retail department.
The battereies are all but run down and the class dunce keeps poking the wires into the frog and, WOW(!) it jumps every time he does it!
WSJ had an article in which the Dicks blamed President Trump for their sales drop, in that gun owners rushed to buy when Obama/Holder/Lyncher were in charge, then calmed down when the new fellow arrived.
Will be interesting to see how Nike’s coming sales airball will be linked to Trump too. Of course Nike can always count on a certain high percentage of their wares flooding the streets owing simply to BLM five-finger discount.
To paraphrase Michael Jordan: Democrats and Republicans both buy shoes. Why would I want to tick off half of my potential customers?
Who wears flashy, uber expensive tennis shoes but doesnt attend school so cant compete in sports competition?
It aint the farmers in Kansas.
Between the loss of gun sales and now the Nike line certainly taking a hit... Dick’s is done....
Sales of American Flag PINS should benefit. Cover the Nike swish with one when wearing their shirts, etc.
Hunting seasons are beginning to open across the country, and Dick’s sales are going to drop more. Hunters will go elsewhere to purchase their hunting ammo and other hunting needs. I will only go where I can purchase all of my hunting needs including the guns of my choice.
Now that Nike has crapped in their lunch bucket, the brand choices for their type goods just got reduced by one. Dick’s won’t know it because people like me won’t be going to Dick’s for anything anyway.

Except that they didn't. NICS checks by year from 1998:
1998 - 892,840 (Nov and Dec only)
1999 - 9,138,123
2000 - 8,543,037
2001 - 8,910,191
2002 - 8,454,322
2003 - 8,481,588
2004 - 8,687,671
2005 - 8,952,945
2006 - 10,036,933
2007 - 11,177,335
2008 - 12,709,023
2009 - 14,033,824
2010 - 14,409,616
2011 - 16,454,951
2012 - 19,592,303
2013 - 21,093,273
2014 - 20,968,547
2015 - 23,141,970
2016 - 27,538,673
2017 - 25,235,215
2018 - 15,128,636 (through July - on track for 25,934,805 if numbers hold)
Grand total - 293,581,016.
So, 2016, 2017, are higher, and 2018 is set to be higher, than all years from 2015 back to 1998.

I have about 40 pages of banned companies and it hasn’t slowed down my shopping one bit. There’s always another place to purchase the same items and usually at less cost.
53rd ???? IIRC it's 52 weeks.
No...I believe it's 57.
Yeah, 57...that's it.
My point was that they will find a way to avoid the truth no matter what.
Oh, I know. I just put this data out there to definitively show they lie, and to show that we know they lie.
Good data too.
Thanks for the hard work.
I last visited Dick’s looking for .22LR. They sold me a box at twice the normal price. Never went back.
.
Again, Dick’s has dicked themselves!
(It’s beyond their Chi-Com level of understanding.)
My mistake. Would be 13 four week periods.
