The PRC’s war against Uighurs is as much ethnic as anti Muslim. Han Chinese are as arrogant about their supposed ethnic superiority as are the Japanese to whom we normally assign that tendency.

Uighurs are ethnically Turkic, the same as Uzbeks, Kazakhs, and Turks in eastern Turkey. The number of terrorist incidents involving Uighurs against Chinese is miniscule compared to those in the Arab world or Pakistan against non-Muslims.

The `reeducation’ of interned Uighurs seems especially harsh with forced consumption of pork & alcohol and such. Not standing up for them, though I was deployed to Uzbekistan and found Uzbeks to be the most laid back Muslims I had ever known. They regarded Uighurs as their kin to the east.

This in my opinion is another example of Great Han Chauvinism (a Chinese gal taught me that term). It’s similar to what the ChiComs have been doing to Tibetans since they took power in 1949.

The River War was published in two editions, one in 1899 and the second in 1902. There are two volumes to the 1899 edition, each a little over 500 pages long. The 1902 edition is highly abridged and contains only about 230 pages. Your quote comes from the 1899 edition, not the 1903 edition. The 1899 edition, of which only about 1,000 copies were published, is far richer, containing many excellent maps illustrations, none of which appears in the Kindle edition. Until recently, it's been very hard to find the first edition, even on line. However, that's different now and any one of us can download an entirely readable, unabridged PDF copy of each volume at:

Well, I’m sure they didn’t start by asking who wants to be a martyr, they started by singling out devout extremists then went through a process of elimination for intelligence, ability to speak English, background checks on their families, and so on. They were probably kept in the dark about what their mission would be and who else would be on similar missions.

Trial and error through hundreds of years of doing this kind of thing has honed their ability to get better at it. They may be cavemen at heart and soul but they are conniving cavemen and brighter than I like to give them credit for. Then again when you live for a singular purpose; it’s much easier to get good at that one thing.

Islam is a cult; no question about it. The largest cult on the planet unfortunately. It can’t be taken lightly. These true believers are very dangerous. Anyone who has nothing to lose and is willing to die for what they believe in is very dangerous as I’m sure you know. No religion teaches their followers to kill or beat into submission those who will not follow their teachings. That right there separates them from a religion and makes them a cult.

The best thing the world could do is to collectively label Islam a cult and NOT a religion so it loses all religious protections which it should not have anyway. Then it can be dealt with like MS-13 or any other dangerous but large criminal group. China is doing it their way but it’s similar to what I suggested. Either way it will be largely eliminated. Once the Mosques are gone; the rest will fall into place until all that’s left are small cells because they won’t be able to congregate in large groups outside their Muslim-based countries. With some luck those with larceny in their hearts will self-deport to their home countries. Probably wishful thinking. The hard part is to get any government to label them as non-religious cults even though that’s what they are.

The answer is 20% of the 1.6 billion are radical, the rest (including the ‘good’ office worker ‘living the American dream’) pay taxes at the mosque to support the “activities’ of the 20% practicing Islam as Mohammad intended. The 80% not only provide financial support, but also form a pool for the 20% to draw from for the practice of true Islam.

China and also Russia are demonstrating how rational people deal with the Muslims.

It is easier to do in Russia & China because both are essentially dictatorships. Very difficult for democracies. Look at how much incoming Trump received because he wanted to ban immigrants from certain (NOT ALL) Muslim countries without extreme vetting. UK, France, Germany, Scandinavia are all paying the price for importing masses of Muslims.
