The prosecution never tips its hand to a search warrant because the potential defendant would change their behavior.
The judge makes their call on the basis of what the prosecution tells them.
Thinking that the Trump campaign would have ANY defense in the FISA court is not only naive it indicates that people do not know how this shit works.
That said, the person asking for the warrant had an moral obligation and a legal obligation to make sure the relevant information was presented to the Judge.
The Judge is under no obligation to read and understand anything—although the assumption is that they would.
