You are more than correct Gillum only beat out Graham because he scored huge numbers in Dade and Broward two of the biggest counties in the sate.Graham would have been a formidable candidate and would have been a very close race with Desantis.

Ironically, rumors are there were so many illegal votes in Dade and Broward Gillum may have won by massive voter fraud.

https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/state-politics/article217456845.html

With 94 percent of the votes counted, Gillum had an unofficial 3 percentage point lead over his closest rival, former U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham. Gillum overwhelmed Graham in Miami-Dade and Broward, the state’s two largest Democratic counties, by more than a 2-to-1 margin, in the highest turnout for a midterm primary election in Florida history.

The bigger question is was the higher turnout in Dade/Broward due to so many illegals voting?

Never forget the blatant 2002 primary election day irregularities when Janet Reno was shut out of the FL Dem nomination for governor. Janet Reno herself had problems casting her vote in Miami-Dade that day.

Gillum only received about one-third of the Dem vote, which doesn't bode well for the general election. How many of the other two-thirds will support this radical socialist?

Reps did well in FL in absentee voting and early voting--a good sign that the Reps are energized, at least in FL.
