I am a VietNam vet and do not consider McCain a war hero. I admire that he survived prison camp although he did acquiesce to the captors. Small price to pay to stay alive.
However, since he has been a senator, he has been self centered, self aggrandizing and selfish. He has been the poster child for term limits.
You are not the first or only Vietnam War Veteran I have heard who conveyed those sentiments about the late Senior Senator from Arizona.
“However, since he has been a senator, he has been self centered, self aggrandizing and selfish. He has been the poster child for term limits.”
I am also a VietNam vet, and this POS disrespected and stabbed in the back the POW/Mia movement several times, simply to provide shade for the draft dodging pervert we had infesting the White House at the time.
Even though he was a vet, I have NO respect for his service, or his life for that matter.
McCain was many things. Without a doubt an arrogant ass who thought he was Gods gift to the US Senate. But one thing he was not was a military hero. Heros jump in front of others to save lives. McCain was all for himself and collaborated with his captors for preferential treatment and it started almost immediately after he was shot down. There were higher ranking officers that wanted McCain and others charged for their dishonorable conduct as POWs. Too bad it was never pursued. The GOP could have been spared his despicable actions as a senator. The wives of MIAs might have been reunited with their husbands if McCain had been a half-way decent human being. But that sadly never happened. Im just tired of hearing about how heroic this traitor was. Its all a lie.
Thank you for your service and thank you for reaffirming what I have heard others say about McCain McCain the survivor vs McCain the senator.
I didn’t watch today’s service but the little I’ve read makes me think it was more of a political rally then a memorial service.
