Meghan McCain took a number of swipes at President Trump on Saturday in a eulogy for her father John McCain -- who sparred with Trump on a number of occasions before his death last week of brain cancer.
'The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again because America was always great,' she said, in what appeared to a reference to Trump's presidential campaign slogan: "Make America Great Again."
She also said that her father's passing represented the passing of "American greatness. The real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege while he suffered and served."
McCain was being remembered at a memorial service in Washington National Cathedral, attended by former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush. Trump, a week after the Arizona Republican died at age 81 after a battle with brain cancer.

It must truly irk the McCain family that history isn’t going to remember John McCain as anything but a bitter, failed Presidential candidate and won’t remember any of the rest of them at all.

There’s a long line of people responsible for McCain, including all Navy officers who let him get admitted to USNA in lieu of someone better qualified; who let him graduate tho his grades didn’t deserve it; who let him fly USN planes when he kept disqualifying himself, etc., etc., etc.
The USN officers (now probably all deceased) all bowed to the father and grandfather’s highly regarded positions, not to the reality that was John McCain. This is no better than all the Affirmative Action business we see where less than qualified candidates are promoted because of their race/gender/ethnicity/religion/national origin or sexual orientation.
It appears that the fat apple didn’t fall far from the backstabbing tree.

IIRC the Arizona Gov. is not permitted to appoint a family member of a deceased member of Congress, but is required to appoint a replacement from the same party as the deceased.
That still could leave us with another Flake.
W hg en Trump passes and Sean, Coulter and other pro Trump folks go after his enemies there will be no rise over politicizing a funeral. My guess is these forum pages will be full of high fives about how they took it to his enemies.

I know how you feel. I never had any complaint about her when she appeared on Outnumbered or what little I saw of clips from The View. This was totally unnecessary. Why on earth did she think the day would NEVER come when she had to say “these words.” Did she think her dad was so perfect he was immortal? And what’s the anger all about? She sure did try to convince anyone listening that her father was a great man and not a dirt bag but why?
In case no one has ever told her, we are entitled to our own opinions. Why not just tone it down and say some pleasant words and let it go at that? I guess we are left with no other impression now than she is as volatile as her father and not to be believed again. She has anger but she’s directing it at the wrong people and again, I ask WHY? Not healthy.
Her mom and one brother looked uncomfortable in the one clip that was shown while she was talking. Perhaps she’s a hot head and they expected nothing different??? Well, she certainly did a lot to leave a different impression on me and I assume others!
I got the feeling she didn’t give a rip about anyone but herself the same way her dad planned his funeral services. Did he care that his wife looked like she was about out on her feet with this idiotic schedule? Did Meghan care that she was making people uncomfortable? I’ve heard a lot of words to describe John McCain in the past 4 days (and beaucoup years) but gracious wouldn’t be one of them.
My goodness - even the 106 year old mother/grandmother looks angry in a picture at that link. Well, I guess she’s earned that right but perhaps it’s a very unfavorable family trait.
