Poll: Majority Of Republicans Think Mueller Investigation Should Be Shut Down
Breitbart ^ | 8-31-2018 | Kristina Wong

Two-thirds of Republicans and a third of independents think special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation should be shut down, according to a new poll. In addition, an overwhelming amount of Republicans polled–80 percent–agree with President Trump that it is a “witch hunt.”

Furthermore, only a quarter–26 percent–of Republicans polled would find special counsel Robert Mueller’s report credible if it found that any campaign member or associate knew of, encouraged, or helped with Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

An overwhelming 71 percent of Republicans said they would not find it credible.

The poll, reported by Axios, was conducted by Public Policy Polling between August 27-28, 2018, with a margin of error of +/4.1%.

The poll comes as speculation by journalists is ramping up that Mueller will conclude his investigation to discover if Trump or associates colluded with Russia during the 2016 election. Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said he is working on a competing report.

The polling also comes after Virginia jurors found Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort guilty of eight counts of tax fraud and related crimes that occurred before he joined the Trump campaign in spring 2016.

About half of Republicans, 49 percent, said Manafort’s conviction made Mueller’s investigation “less credible” to them.

Independents polled were far more divided on the subject of the special counsel.

Most thought the special counsel should continue, and a little more than half, 52 percent, thought Manafort’s conviction made the investigation “more credible.”

However, 48 percent of independents said Manafort’s conviction did not make them think the investigation should continue.

Independents were divided on Mueller himself, with 46 percent having a favorable opinion and 39 having an unfavorable opinion.

Republicans are quite divided on the topic of a presidential pardon of Manafort, with about 30 percent in favor...

Call it a “witch hunt.” But that is incorrect.

This is a conspiracy to use the justice system to bring down a lawfully elected president.

The national problem is that no one really knows how to deal with the special counsel except to fire him or have congress step in and send him packing legislatively.

That is why the election ahead is critical to American justice.

Only a RINO would think the Mueller investigation is legitimate.

I heard something interesting the other day... that when Trump uses the term “Witch Hunt”, he means it as a double-entendre. Yes, he means it in the traditional sense as in the Mueller investigation is a campaign to discredit him because of he is an outsider and holds different views from the establishment.

But if you think of Hillary as “the witch”, then it takes on a secondary meaning. When he says “Witch Hunt”, according to this theory, he is either calling for an investigation into HRC or signalling that there is a “secret plan” happening behind the scenes.

Yes, I know, “trust the plan” conspiracy stuff. I am not one of those. But the theory was interesting. Could interpret it a few ways.

POTUS needs to declassify Rosenstein’s Mueller coup scope memo before the midterms. This is a total farce. Democrats get immunity while Trump associates get jail. Apparently, no investigation of the numerous Cliton campaign ties to Russia.

There is no investigation of Hillary Criminal. Rosenstein limited the “investigation” to Trump in his Special Prosector scope memo. So you get farcicle situations like Tony Podesta walking free for a “crime” that several Trump associates have been charged with. Or the Trump Tower players not being investigated for their numerous ties to the Clinton campaign.

Well, I think there should be a Mueller Probe. That is, an investigation of Mueller and Comey for abusing the justice system and their offices for political purposes.

Here’s my problem with our Republican base:

1) They know this is a witch hunt.
2) They know the purpose of Mueller is not to find those slippery Russians, but rather to PUNISH anyone who has the nerve to try to help Trump...with Manafort being the poster boy.
3) They know that, before Trump, Manfort was looked at by DOJ, and determined to not be worth pursuing.
4) So they know that if Manafort had nothing to do with Trump, he would still be a free man.
5) They know this is simply wrong. Mueller may not like Trump, but ruining the lives of people whose only Trump-related crime was trying to help Trump is simply wrong.
6) And they know that the FASTEST way to shut this crap down, short of Trump or Sleepy issuing the order, is to find Manafort NOT GUILTY, regardless of the crime, unless it pertains to Russian collusion to help Trump in 2016...which of course was not the case. In other words, jury nullification.
7) And they know that the SECOND FASTEST way to shut this crap down is for Trump to PARDON everyone charged, including Manafort.

...and so my rub - why do only 30% of Republicans want to see Manafort pardoned, when virtually all of them know that the only reason he was prosecuted was because he helped Trump get elected? The number should be 80 to 90%.

The Clintons and their supporters attacked Ken Starr as well. Trump attacked Ken Starr too.

Yes, I know RR’s letter was ridiculously narrow in scope - if they wanted to “get to the bottom” of foreign influence in the election they would have investigated all the candidates.

Mueller’s a grandstanding egomaniac and fraud who’s having the time of his life pissing away citizens’ tax dollars.

I have to wonder about mueller and his bunch of criminals. You have to know he has heard the talk concerning this is not legit and lately, documents prove he’s in as deep as anyone in all this.. and it’s all fake. I have to wonder is he embarrassed? does he still think he’s gonna upset Trump? Does he know he’s in deep trouble with what he has done? Do they know this is not gonna succeed and they have been uncovered? Are they thinking they can wait it out till the mid terms and then impeach? Does he know if they try that, they’ll end up in the SC and be lucky if they even get there, past us out here who are not pleased with him and what he’s done?
Does he know, in the dark secret part of his brain, that he can’t do this? That it’s not the way we run our country? Did he think he could do this for sure? To soak all his career on one thing... taking an election and turning it upside down ... a coup is what it’s called.. does he know his chances were slim to none?
How many are in on this with mueller? Is there, supposedly, none left to stop him/them? Is it that deep in that swamp?

Well, mueller.. this is about over and you lost... not only an election, but your career, your retirement, your future and your legacy is in the deep pit.

Pres Trump continued to slam CNN’s Carl Bernstein, challenging the network’s journalism ethics and their use of anonymous sources. “Sloppy Carl Bernstein, a man who lives in the past and thinks like a degenerate fool, making up story after story, is being laughed at all over the country!” Trump Tweeted.

HOW DOES TRUMP KNOW THE CNN/BERNSTEIN/LANNY STORY IS BOGUS? READ ON.

ACT ONE---Bernstein cited Lanny Davis as an anonymous source, writing that L/D "declined to comment" for the story.

ACT TWO--Lanny Davis had, indeed, admitted that he was CNN's source WRT "Cohen knowing" Trump had advance knowledge of the infamous Trump Tower meeting with Russians and Trump Jr.

ACT THREE--Lanny ran to CNN and Bernstein with the blockbuster----every one of the lowlifes thinking they were about to cash-in bigtime.

ACT FOUR The "ball-breaking reporter" Bernstein and the obedient CNN fast-forwarded what they thought was a "get-Trump" bombshell.

DENOUEMENT---The dumb*** media-types now find they've been trolled by Trump.
The real bombshell is that apparently Trump had Cohen feeding Lanny info. (hat tip Alberta's Child).

==================================

Now Lanny's been forced to admit his "error" on TV----and Bernstein's been caught with his pants down on CNN.
CNN went incommunicado. Bernstein? He's over at the Watergate having a stiff drink.

=================================================

Beautiful play, Donald....beautiful.

I don’t know if Cohen deliberately misled Davis as part of a Trump trolling exercise. It is possible, but seems a stretch to me. I am at a loss for why Davis would make this claim about Cohen, though, since Cohen already twice testified under oath to Congress that he had no information about the Trump Tower meeting. For Davis to say that he did, and for Bernstein and CNN and other to run with it without thinking it all through was reckless. Davis was basically telling CNN and Bernstein that his client committed perjury before Congress and that is a felony and up to 5 years in Prison.

I think Davis did all this because he wanted to promote the GoFundMe legal defense fund which raised $160,000 - that went to Davis!

It was derelict for CNN et al to report this without noting that this would mean he lied to Congress. And even if CNN/Bernstein had another source besides Davis, as Cohen’s attorney Davis has perhaps more authority than any other source besides Cohen himself.

No doubt Trump trolls these people masterfully. But on this one, I think it was just Davis looking for his paycheck.

Davis was looking for his paycheck......true. But he had to have something tangible in order to collect.

He figured he had it in the Cohen "revelation."

But that was not Lanny's biggest error.

His biggest error was being stupid enough to believe Cohen hired him (a Clintonite) to do the job on Donald.

Didn't he ever ask himself......why me?
