Orange County is shaping up to be one of the hottest political battlegrounds going into the midterm elections–and, it appears, Irvine-based In-N-Out Burger has cast their vote early. The corporation gave $25,000 to the California Republican Party this week, according to a public filing on the Secretary of State’s website.

The filing was spotted by Washington, D.C.-based journalist Gabe Schneider, who shared it on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

No freezers at In n’ Out - everything is fresh - plus good prices compared to other burger chains.

Philly West on Westwood just south of Santa Monica makes a delicious cheesesteak.

Love The Habit. I think it’s now the only chain that has a real charburger. Carl’s has a fake char and their meat often has a rubbery texture to it, but The Habit is always tasty.

Good for In-and-Out, too bad their burgers are garbage.

While visiting family in Texas I tried Wheres-the-burger. Was not impressed. It must be a local thing.

The problem with Texas What-a-Burger is that they do not have the Green Chili Double on the menu (I live in Arizona). I went into a store in San Antonio and ordered one. The lady behind the counter looked a little confused.

I get one about once or twice a month

I used to love In N Out burgers when I was a kid. Definitely my fave.

Lately though it's just "meh" for me. Their burgers are generally overcooked and the fries undercooked for my taste.

So I found out I could ask for the fries well done and the burger medium rare and they both tasted better, but not much.

I think it's that their burgers are seared rather than char broiled. I also prefer something other than American "cheese".

Their shakes are among the best, though.

They will double fry the fries if you ask them.

Let’s see them TRY to boycott In-And-Out Burger. It can’t be done.

A&W was still a big deal in Michigan when I lived there in the late 80’s.

As were lots of local Greek diner joints that specialized in chili dogs. The locals called these joints “Coney Islands” for some inexplicable reason as we were more than 700 miles from Coney Island.

“...Texas What-a-Burger is that they do not have the Green Chili Double on the menu (I live in Arizona).”

Interesting that offering is available in AZ - it’s been a while since I’ve been to AZ. I know it’s “green chile everything” when in New Mexico and I do like the way that Blake’s Lot-A-Burger does it there. The Hatch green chiles are in our stores in OK now and they had a roaster at my local supermarket last Saturday so I got some roasted to go in the freezer.

I prefer them over Whataburger, in spite of Mrs. Chandler’s nostalgia for Whata . . .

. . . especially since I learned I can order their (otherwise bland) fries “extra crispy”.

The onions they put on their burgers are great.

Also, their shakes are excellent — like McD’s shakes 50 years ago.

Bravo for In and Out’s gesture, modest though it might be. Leading by example.

Still not Steak and Shake, though.

SIL took my grandson to Texas Road House last week. Grandson ordered a New York strip. He told everybody it was flavorless compared to the charcoal grilled steaks his Papa makes. : )

Wendy’s always used to donate to Republicans.
Then Dave Thomas died, and his successors pretty much ran the company into the ground.

It was sold to Arby’s, a bunch of BIG TIME Dems who put a screeching halt to all of that.

“I’ve been to the one in Round Rock, just north of Austin.”

To my knowledge in n out in Tx is only in the Dallas area. Maybe I’m wrong.
