The target of the last Watergate break-in, Ida “Maxie” Wells, would shortly after Watergate become the secretary to Governor Jimmy Carter. Wells would become Carter’s Oval Office secretary after his campaign.
Carter’s main speechwriter was Patrick Anderson, who was the ghost-writer for Jeb Magruder’s book An American Life. Anderson also worked with Philip Mackin Bailley in the 1968 RFK campaign. Bailley was the lawyer-pimp who had direct connections to Maxie Wells, Maureen Biner and mobbed-up Madame Heidi Rikan. Another key Carter operative was Robert Strauss who was the DNC Finance chief at the time of Watergate.
