A prophetic encouragement from St. John Paul II
Catholic Online ^ | Nov. 9, 1978 | The greatest Pope ever

Posted on 08/28/2018 9:27:32 AM PDT by Slyfox

In an address given during that 1976 Eucharistic Congress in Philadelphia for the bicentennial celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Cardinal Karol Wojtyla spoke some words which I believe were prophetic:

''We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. I do not think that the wide circle of the American Society, or the whole wide circle of the Christian Community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-church, between the gospel and the anti-gospel, between Christ and the Antichrist. The confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God's Plan, and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously.”

~ Karol Cardinal Wojtyla, who became Saint John Paul the Great {Karol Cardinal Wojtyla, “Notable & Quotable,” “Wall Street Journal” (Nov. 9, 1978), 30.}

It was great when we had a great pope. And a catholic one!

I am not a Catholic, never have been and never will be...

But everything about that man radiates Christian life as few ever have.

Reagan epitomized virtue and strength wedded in the chivalric tradition. Thatcher brought her iron resolve to the fore. And John Paul II, nothing more or less than his faith in God and a twinkle in his eye.

And because of those three, the Cold War ended and communism fell without a single bullet fired to resolve the matter.

If that isn't providential, I don't know what could be.

And I pity the kids who won't ever know what it was like to have grown up when true giants walked the earth...

Exactly my feeling, and like you, I’m not Catholic.

God Bless this pope, I miss him too. I’m not Catholic but I truly believe he was a man of God. I’m glad he came into the world scene when President Reagan & Prime Minister Margret Thatcher were around.

JP2 almost always radiated genuine faith and a righteousness seldom seen in or out of the clergy. I wish he were still with us

I am also not Catholic, but grew up in a predominantly Catholic neighborhood. (I was Lutheran, so I could claim to be “Catholic Lite”). Anyway, I also agree about St. JP2. He was a truly great man and through his faith I gained more respect for the Church.

Sadly, today, all of that respect is gone, and then some, thanks mostly to the current communist Anti-Pope.
