Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert and popular political prognosticator, floated a theory of “mutually assured destruction” on Sunday morning: if prosecutors pursue President Donald Trump, he will make sure that Hillary Clinton and her allies go to jail.
Adams said that his theory explained why Trump had retained Jeff Sessions as Attorney General, even while attacking him for failing to pursue charges against Hillary Clinton, as well as members of the “deep state” who had conspired to spy on the Trump campaign.
The goal, he said, was to make sure prosecutors understood there was a “red line” they could not cross — because doing so would trigger Sessions’s replacement with a prosecutor who would take down Trump’s enemies:
Let me ask you this — and I’ve not seen any reporting on this: what would happen if they actually got the president on something serious? Well, between the time the president knew he was going down — and this is hypothetical, let’s imagine that they found something in his business or something that was problematic — he would have a number of months of being in power before he was technically out of office. What would he do? Well, I think he would employ “mutually assured destruction” — not of the world, but of Hillary Clinton.
Adams later specified that the “red line” for Special Counsel Robert Mueller was any investigation into the broader finances of the Trump Organization, which had nothing to do with the 2016 presidential election or allegations of Russian “collusion.”

Mueller is ramping up because he know that his shelf life expires after the mid-terms. If the Democrats take the House, Trump knows he’ll be impeached, no matter what. The Senate however will gain a few more Trump loyalists, and especially the ones he campaigned for. This means that when he is impeached, he can count on them for the support he needs to avoid conviction. In that senerio, he’ll fire Sessions, Rosenstein, and whoever else needs it until he gets down to someone who will follow his orders. Then he’ll fire Mueller, and the U.S. Attorney in the SDNY. He’ll pardon Manafort, Flynn, and anyone else Mueller targeted. If the Republicans hold the House, he’ll do the same thing without fear of impeachment.

Trump has the sole authority to fire Sessions whenever he wants. Congress doesn’t get a vote in it and has no legal recourse. Scotus, Myers v US.
If the Senate refuses to approve whomever Trump nominates for AG, Trump can appoint someone for 210 days, Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998. If the Senate goes into recess he can make a recess appointment.
The one guy in all of this who has never once asked for Sessions to resign, and has never said “I’d fire Sessions except...” is Donald Trump.

Scott Adams is presenting a scenario that in specifics may not occur, but as a strategic overview, may have viability. The point is that Trump is a known fighter. He is loathe to follow conventional ‘wisdom’, and has an inherent ability to make the right enemies and the right allies.
He is rolling the dice that his aggressive public criticism of Mueller will work to salvage the republican house in the mid-terms. I think he is right. His strong showings at the rallies are very strong in getting his record and message out to the people without media interference. This is working very well and he is going to campaign more. Mueller is not invincible - there is public opinion, and Mueller has the likes of Comey, Strzok, the Ohr’s, Page and a totally corrupted DOJ and FBI infrastructure that is now exposed.
This is all-out war to save the country. Trump has a much stronger hand than he has used. He made the right enemies in Mueller and the corrupt deep state. He made the right allies - the majority of the American people. This is a very worthy fight. Frankly I think the GOP keeps the house and gains in the senate in November, and then Trump’s power increases dramatically.
Scott is delusional.
What is Mr. Adams waiting for? Why has he not filed charges or empaneled a Grand Jury to indict Hillary?

I am digging deep in my memory; but I think Trump’s records are all sealed. Obama opened the door on that one. Trump only lets out what he wants to let out.
Hillary Clinton doesn’t do prison, she does luncheons.
Wrong. She, and Soros, and Steyer, and probably the Koch brothers, along with a bunch of Demagogic Party politicians and their partisan media stooges, will go into their graves. President Trump is going to serve out his first term, and be overwhelmingly reelected to a second term. Thanks Hojczyk.
Scott Adams is right about the red line - and right that Trump will do whatever it takes when he has nothing to lose... BUT Trump will win out...because they can’t take down the whole government and it’ll be close enough to an election that they’ll ‘leave the Presidency up to the people’... AND Trump will have the win.
