Then off for burial I think at that Navy College or some place he trained for the Navy. So maybe a week? The funeral will be Wellstone on steriods.

Actually, Governor Ducey is playing this correctly, IMHO. He is wise to hold off on appointing McCain’s replacement for two very good reasons, one to let the Arizona Primary Election take place next Tuesday, where he will not get himself into political trouble by choosing a replacement that Arizona voters will have trouble accepting and, to see how the political winds are blowing for or against him naming a McCain family member to replace McCain.

Also...keep in mind Ducey is running for re-election come this November. He also needs to focus on how Arizona voters are reacting to the McCain passing....The media is in love fest mode, the country, the people are mostly in the ho-hum, so, what, McCain is gone...what’s next? The McCain status of adoration by the Media/Establishment vs. the ho-Hum from ordinary America voters Jim & Jane, etc. shoes why there is such a split in the American political environment. the media cannot cause Ducey to win or lose but, the voters of Arizona certainly can.

Now if hundreds of thousands of Arizona citizens turn out to pay their respects to McCain, the Governor can do whatever he chooses. If the public cares less about McCain....appointing a McCain family member, could be the Governors political death knell. We shall soon see what happens, one way or the other.

Acey Ducey seems a bit untrustworthy. Let’s hope he takes this opportunity to do the right thing.

That could be weeks while McCain is paraded around DC
and lies in state until his rotting flesh starts to stink.
Throw some dirt on him and be done.

“If he names her I will withhold my vote in the general”

I was wondering what the fallout would be if Acey Ducey (as I call him) appoints CM. Falling into apathy and staying home on election night may be it.

Not saying I would do that, but the Republicans are already a monumental disappointment - at some point more and more of the electorate will simply not bother.

Goldwater would be better than anything that he comes up with.

Did it really need to be said? Of course it will be the day after his burial.

Goldwater went a bit loopy in his final years.

Well I’ll still vote in the general, but not for governor if he names her. That seat belongs to the people, it is not a family heirloom. If he does that he will be handing the state to the democrats

I think that’s a classy touch on Gov. Ducey’s part. It’s August, the Senate is in recess. It’s not as if the state needs a new senator in the next five minutes. Besides, it gives him more time to consider his options.
