You need to realize that a large percentage of Americans just don’t follow politics that closely and, if they do vote, they vote the way they always have, without really appreciating the overall implications of their vote.
But today the left, and by left I mean the Dem leadership, has gone so far off the rails that those who don’t follow politics closely find themselves unexpectedly beset upon by left wing loons reacting to something said innocently. This upsets them. It’s a revealing moment to realize that people you thought you were friends with will judge you severely because your personal view of a matter differs from theirs.
In other words they’re receiving education in the one of the best forms, by example. And they’re not liking what they’re learning about the party they’ve always reflexively voted for in the past.
This is a good thing, and we should welcome them with open arms if they’re willing to come into a party where personal liberties are still respected.
