Alcohol is harmful to others who don’t drink it.
Those harms are generally already “prohibited”, i.e. illegal.
Are you Carrie Nation reincarnated?
Even Jesus himself liked wine, to the point where He was accused of being a wine-bibber (boozehound, for those in Rio Linda) by the Pharisees.
If you don’t want to drink, that’s fine with me. If you want to take my cold beer after work away, then we may have a issue.
It’s like that joke:
Conservative: Leave me alone.
Leftist: NO! I know better!
So are many other things. There is no such thing as no risk, we are at risk from many directions every day of our lives. One person abusing something/anything is no reason to ban others from responsible use.
People wreck and kill other people while talking on cell phones, not a reason to ban phones for everyone. People are irresponsible in many ways while driving that causes injury and death to others, should we do away with cars for anyone?
There are people that beat and otherwise abuse their spouse. Should it be illegal for anyone to marry? Where do we go with all of this?
I cherish freedom. I understand life has all sorts of risk. I understand it is impossible for any law to take away all the risk. Laws that prohibit things do not take away the risk of misuse by someone. Every law, regulation- no matter how minor, restricts our freedom, at least the freedom of law abiding citizens.
On top of that we did make alcohol illegal once before in this country, how did that work out?
