"Britain's health authority, for example, suggests not exceeding 14 drinks per week." Interesting. I shall do more research. Two drinks a day is better than six a day per day. The movies from the 1940's and 1950's always had suits, dresses, drinks and smokes with cool hats, intense drama and nice cars. Hollywood back then always set the trends.

Our fam is a teetotaler Family. The choice works for us. We don’t Explain to others why we think it’s wise, unless someone asks directly. We go to weddings and just act normal and order water, or non-alcholoc beverages, Works fine for us. We do have some lovely bottles of wine we’ve received as gifts from folks who don’t know that about us - we receive graciously and always put in a place of honor, because the Giver is the True Gift.

Teetotaler here, married to a formerly active alcoholic, banning alcohol is the last thing we need. Anyone can make it and the crooks would have a field day.
Educate people, certainly, but prohibition is a stupid thing
