Sears shares have fallen more than 85 percent over the past 12 months, bringing the company's market cap to $127.8 million, or less than Lampert is willing to pay for the Kenmore brand. The stock hit an all-time intraday low of $1.15 earlier this week.

$1.15 a share? I've seen junk bonds with better results.
Sad. Just sad.
Bump for later.
Life goes on.
Where I grew up, the Sears catalog was a big deal. You could get anything in there within a week or two. Few items in the catalog were otherwise available locally. It really served a niche. Their retail stores never really made sense to me. It was like they had to do it to continue to compete with changing times. Basically, Amazon has brought it full circle.
Dad retired from Sears upper management after 30 years, way back then Sears was a Blue Chip stock.
So sad to see brick and mortar retail die.
That's not a new concept, there are 3 mattress stores at every intersection.
Wow, the store at the Eastview Mall in Victor, NY is closing. The Eastview is a higher end mall. If Sears can’t make it there...
It would deeply sadden me if Sears were to go under.Sears is Americana...Sears is America.I’d much,*much* rather see Amazon go under.
No more Hamilton Mall Sears - sad.....
Sears was the first credit card I owned. Because there wasn’t any such thing as debit cards in those days it had a severely limited credit ceiling.
I had to freeze all my accounts when I went through a divorce and when it came time to un-freeze, Sears required me to reapply. It then declined me as a poor risk - because of my divorce. It mattered not that I protected them as well as myself by my actions.
I walked away then and never looked back (well, except for that time I asked them to honor their lifetime warranty on a Craftsman tool and they refused).
“Sears^ Oglethorpe Mall, 7810 Abercorn St Savannah GA”
Sad to see this one go. Spent a LOT of money in this store over the years.
Last time we went in, looking for some tools, there weren’t any. The shelves were bare.
That they did not covert that massive infrastructure to the internet during the mid 1990s is inexplicable.
It was as dumb as Kodak deciding to stick with good old film once everybody started buying digital cameras. (Something they invented by the way.)
Sears has sold off most if not all of its brands. It has nothing but real estate left and the CEO transferred that to his own company.
Worked in their service department for 10 years in the late’80s-early ‘90s. It was a great job being on the road all day, but you could see the writing as they tried to manage every little aspect with bare minimum crew. “Lean and mean” as the new district manager said. Sounded ok until we found out that “lean” meant the unemployment line for us young guys..
Guess those were the days, when they serviced and repaired what they sold.
Sears in my area closed several years ago. Can’t remember the last time I spent any money in a Sears store.
I do miss KMart though. They had cheap, well-made basic clothes in Big & Tall sizes.
