A decent sized sample of 2500. I noticed though in another poll only 46% think the country is moving in the right direction.
I’m Canadian so I can’t speak obviously to how well things are economically in the US, but from what I understand, things are really humming along. So why only 46%? Weird.

My best guess is that so many U.S. voters today are very shortly descended from other countries and cultures and have brought their extreme cynicism, negativity and expectations of political plots, schemes and intrigues with them.
They want their pendulum swings between radical Euro-left and Euro-right again, and without any lulls in between. Whatever is affecting them, they appear to have little patience for incrementalism from the conservative side (conservative in the U.S. sense). Odd, after the left has pushed so far with incrementalism.
Granted, though, we're only seeing some positive beginnings in the economy. Starting a large manufacturing base again will take some time.
Hopefully, there will be enough time to start seeing large enough increases in sustainable revenues from new production on our North American soil again to pay the monstrous debts down (along with decreases in big government spending). Both the U.S.A. and Canada will depend on that and decreasing balance of payments deficits in trade, in my opinion.
There's also the consideration of being able to provide sufficient materials and finished products that we may need for a possibly heavy intensity conflict in the near future (communist/fascist expansions starting overseas again with threats directed at us to abandon allies in Asia and Eastern Europe). Both Canada and the U.S.A. would need a rather larger base of manufacturing on our own soil.

Too many morons down here who vote on the emotions of how they feel (and the enemedia makes them feel bad) rather than the facts of how the economy is doing. Those of us who actually work for a living have enjoyed a much improved work environment and even compensation packages.
