The actual Cohen plea deal listing the eight counts.
What’s the sentencing guidelines for a made-up ‘crime’?
People need to remember a guilty plea is not an adjudication of a court.
3-5 years. Apparently.
Did he plead guilty to something that’s not a crime ,LOL
They still use typewriters in this century?
To buy Khuzami’s campaign charges you’d have to assume that Cohen is not an atty representing Trump in 2015, that Trump had no money other than Campaign money in 2017, that Cohen didn’t have a right to bill Trump for the work he did in 2016, that that work was in furtherance of nothing but the campaign, and that Trump with billions of dollars in real estate spread across the globe had no right to direct an atty to handle stories about him he’d consider bad PR.
Khuzami got a plea on this from broke and in big trouble Cohen, via Lanny Davis, without having to allege even a statutory or administrative law violation other than greater than $2700 dollars and no corporate cash, or prove any facts or even that his numbered paragraphs constitute any violation. The NY Bar should call Davis in to say wtf did you do here?
Yeah, this is the prosecutor’s deal. I wonder what IDIOT Cohen has to be to plead for a 3-5 year imprisonment with Hillary’s lawyer buddy. Couldn’t he say, “Hey, can you get me no time and no fine for everything like the Hill-dog?”
Exactly
Exactly
Why did flynn plead guilty to a made up crime— lying ( after he was determined not to have been lying ) and now cohen to the absurd assertion that paying a legal settlement being extorted by a whores lawyer two weeks before election which is PAID BACK by his client is somehow a campaign contribution. Cohen WAS PAID BACK— WHAT CONTRIBUTION?????
Here is the answer. The Clinton Lawyer , Lanny Davis, in my opinion sold cohen out for a good deal in prison TO HELP THE CRIMINAL CLINTON!! Cohen got Schlonged!! It was all done as a cave in to the leftists for money. Ill bet Cohen never paid a dime of attorney fees!! This was a contrived narrative prepared by lanny and includes a non crime?!I see it clearly now. GO TRUMP!!KAGA!!
Cohen needs to sue HIS attorney for legal malpractice.
The key question is who is paying Clinton consigliere Lanny Davis? I assume Cohen’s finances have been frozen and a high profile attorney like Davis is not cheap. Throw in the fact that Davis is all over TV and putting his anti-Trump spin on it and it’s obvious to me that this is one more attempt to bring Trump down.
I think Cohen was trading a short stretch in ClubFed to avoid a long stretch in NY state prison. Trump could pardon him for federal tax evasion, but not state tax evasion.
This is why Cohen is “composing” in his plea arrangement. This strongly implies he literally had nothing else to offer. Probably why he hired Lanny, as well. He needed a heavy lifter to help him sell it to the deep state in NY.
Davis is promoting the gofundme page he set up for Cohen’s legal expenses.
I personally think the Indictment presentation is credible. But I didn’t elect Trump to be my Pastor. I voted for him to “drain the swamp”, I couldn’t vote for Hillary, and if the Stormy/McDougal stories had come out before the Election it wouldn’t have changed my vote. To my Dem friends I say - do a better job next time on picking a nominee as you screwed up.
It does look like Cohen did break some campaign laws. The precedent on this is for some fines to be paid. I don’t see any evidence that Trump was behind this. Cohen/others were probably taking the initiative to “protect” him.
What’ll happen on this is that Trump will claim, through an attorney, a few simple things that’ll take care of paragraphs #37 and #38. This will ensure that he avoids any criminal risks.
37. Trump and other executives will recall that Michael Cohen had a lot of things going on with bank accounts, assets, and that during the busy Jan 2017 Transition time that Michael Cohen did show them some various papers that may have included bank statements that could’ve been about some of the various asset purchases/transactions that Cohen was involved in. They won’t be able to specifically recall if they directly affected Trump or not. Based on the litany of his investments in homes, taxi medallions, equity lines, etc. its clear that Michael Cohen had a lot going on. However, Cohen was showing 6 digit transactions and Trump/transition team had on their mind the fact that they’d be overseeing 14 digits of transactions soon so any consideration of Cohen was to just ensure a smooth transition for Trump’s business obligations.
38. During Dec2016 or Jan2017, Trump had various meetings to discuss the transition of managing his company. It included putting Cohen on some sort of monthly retainer for services so that if any senior executive needed him to look into anything then he’d be in the system to still get paid and serve the executives at the Trump organization, their trust, or any other purpose, even though President Trump had transitioned out. It was decided that approx. $0.4M would be about right. Thus he’d get 35K per month for 12 months from one of their trusts. The accountants would ensure that all the details were followed per the law for financial reports, taxes, and everything.
I read the legal filings and although I’m not a lawyer, don’t understand how the government can claim this as a campaign donation when no money came from the campaign nor any campaign officers involved. Cohen was Trump’s legal representative in paying off a bimbo to keep her mouth shut.
Irregardless of Trump running for the presidency, celebrities are always paying off “bad press”.(See Harvey Weinstein)
If Trump paid for a new car, would the feds say this too was a campaign donation.
Unless there’s more(Tapes?) this is a swing and whiff.
Good observation. If he had problems paying Federal taxes, it seems logical he would have the same problem paying NY city and sate taxes..
I think the more interesting question is why did the prosecutor bring the plea deal to court in the middle of August instead holding it for an October Surprise.
It’s legally a nothing burger and only good for smearing the president in the court of public opinion for a couple of news cycles. So why the premature use/ammo wastage?
