At some point, people, I think, will have enough of this BS and stop the insanity....Most people don't care. This is the result of the gutting of American history in the public schools, beginning more than a generation ago. The Edmund Pettus Bridge and the Stonewall Inn are probably safe for now, but I'm not sure any other historic sites are safe.
