Why does MTV have a music award show? Do they play music anymore?

Good question. I thought MTV has reality shows about teenage girls getting pregnant as their main programming nowadays.

I surfed into MTV, or one of its associated channels, for a bit, a few nights back. They were running "Videos of 80s", or somesuch. Was a pleasant trip down memory lane for about 30 minutes. "Hey! I remember THESE guys! There was this High School Dance, and Heather Whats-her-name was there....", and so on.

Eventually I realized that I remembered the videos much better than they ever were, and moved on.

Judging by the commercials for their shows - those were about the only commercials there were, not much product advertised - their viewership must be at MSNBC levels.
