In the immediate wake of 9-11-2001 there was a coming together, people entering churches that night nationwide to gather (with a more formal memorial arranged with more preparation).
For a week comedians didn’t know what to do with themselves. Was it Dan Rather or someone else on David Letterman who a week later asked if we could just laugh again?
Took about 2 weeks for the public to return to their post-modern jaded personalities. And within a month they were vocally attacking Americans for the attack (payback, little eichmanns, faked attacks with empty planes and passengers “somewhere else”, inside job, etc..)
