This really is an outrage.

This statue was no slave owner turned Confederate general but represented all the soldiers in the Confederacy who gave their lives to their home and people.

Argue the war all you want—it shouldn’t matter at such a memorial. Less then 1 percent of Confederate enlisted soldiers owned slaves. Argue their lost cause all you want, but these men were doing their duty as they saw it.

Really, reprehensible act of children in desperate need of an old-fashioned paddling.

An insult to today’s Southern people, especially to those who had an ancestor who fought in that war.

Despicable, hateful and disrespectful of the dead.

I don’t see how ANY conservative, North or South, could be in favor of this. Those who love America love her history, too, warts and all.

I’m retired and on a fixed income now, but I just gave $100 to my town’s Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Germany has memorials for their World War II dead soldiers, even though they lost the war and were fighting for a bad cause. The memorials are not for Nazism, but for their dead from that war.
