To be fair, homosexuals attempt to infiltrate any organization where they can gain intimate access to boys. The BSA is another prime example. Public primary schools are another. The Catholic Church is but one of various opportunities.
I don’t know everything but I would assume that hundreds years ago, the Catholic Church did not have problems finding quality priests because death was all around us at all times. Look at Black Death. But the past century or so, modern medicine made it possible for us to live a long time so people aren’t exactly signing up in droves so that’s why there’s a lot of “troublemakers” in the Catholic Church now.
