Who told you I am for acting world police? I have posted here until blue in the face how stupid it is to act as world’s policeman with Trillion dollar budget deficits for next few years. Vietnam and Iraq wars were the 2 biggest blunders in terms of blood & treasure spent versus return on investment. Vietnam was taken over by communists and Iraq is dominated by Iran’s regime. Vietnam is going big time capitalist on its own after experience with communism for 3 decades. Iraq & Afghanistan are lost causes due to religious control. Stay out of Muslim countries in trying to build democracies there.

If we are not stupid, focus on losing the debtor nation status, focus on building a military which can respond with ferocity, and focus on trade policy to enhance the vast middle class instead of oligarchs like the
Koch brothers who desire importing cheap immigrant labor and export manufacturing facilities to cheaper labor countries.

If it’s the usual accounting shenanigans, the “cost” has included the pay of every serviceman/woman participating.

They’d get paid regardless, but it’s an old trick to play at inflating budgets.

Are you drinking? Exactly where and when did I every state any such thing? Man if it aint the bottle then put down the pipe cause your almost a full bubble off plumb!

Whatever you want to imagine or ramble on about is all on you National Armed Forces Parade Day, personally I can think of a boat load of better things to do for our service members with that kind of money than some overblown parade.

I'm done, do what you want, I don't respond to crazy.

It’s an often forgotten fact that the Soviet Union only had 3 red square memorial military parades. 1965, 1985 and 1990. 1990 was an odd year and perhaps Gorbachev just felt the need to scare people by showing them all that military gear. It was made an annual event starting with 1995 by modern Russia.

I think the benefits far outweigh the costs.

A former Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) analyst who repeatedly divulged classified information to journalists was sentenced Thursday to 30 months in prison. Henry Kyle Frese, a counterterrorism analyst from February 2018 to October 2019 before he was arrested, apologized to a federal judge in Alexandria, Va., for his conduct and said his motive for leaking was to advance relationships, including one with a reporter whom he was dating at the time. “It was never for personal gain or out of anger. It was never for political reasons,” said Frese, who previously pleaded guilty to leaking national secrets to two journalists...

A former Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) employee has pleaded guilty to charges related to the leaking of classified information to two journalists, the Justice Department (DOJ) said. Henry Kyle Frese, 31, pleaded guilty on Thursday to the willful transmission of top-secret national defense information to journalists. He faces up to 10 years in prison. Frese was arrested when he arrived to work at a DIA facility in Virginia in October last year where he worked as a counterterrorism analyst. The 31-year-old—who held top-secret government security clearance—was accused of helping the journalists research information on a classified United States government computer...

I believe giving away National Intelligence in order to play hide the pepperoni qualifies as seeking a personal gain.
