And sorry, conservatives, the Second Amendment wasnt written to keep states from banning guns ... They understood the Second Amendment applied only to the federal government, not the states.
No kidding but that is true of the entire Bill of Rights. That changed through the judge-decreed process of incorporation. But given that all of the other significant rights have been incorporated so as to apply against the states, it would make zero sense not to incorporate this greatly important one as well.
"Incorporation" has been nothing but an abominable disaster! Why would any conservative defend such a thing?
You are correct but the problem is (until very recently), the only major right not to be ruled as incorporated was the right to keep and bear arms. Keep in mind that conservatives rely upon incorporation all the time, such as by claiming that they have First Amendment protections against their own state governments (such as in the gay wedding cake case). To be consistent and true to original intent, we would have to abandon all arguments like that. Unfortunately, the Constitution has been twisted into something it was never intended to be. Kind of hart to un-spill the milk at this point.
