Well, the Brits still speak this odd minority dialect of the English language. It’s a fact.
Noticed years ago when our only TV available to watch in English were BBC 1 and BBC 2 that even well educated people, who probably studied them for years, refuse to pronounce foreign words and names as spoken in the original tongues. Everything is adapted to an English inflection and style of pronunciation. Double “LL” in Spanish? Plain “ell” instead of “yy”. But they become huffy when anyone pronounces English words differently than they do.
