If the trade war escalates — and Mr. Trump has shown no sign of backing down — some worry that the public’s faith in the economy could be shaken, exposing the nation to much more serious problems than a drop in exports

Then, you know what to do, China. Drop your tariffs and we'll drop ours. Fair trade is good trade.

The ball’s in China’s court. This could end today if they’ll simply do the right thing.

This trade war should result in China significantly reducing their military budget.

When you depend on a partner who buys 4 times as much stuff from you as you do from him, it’s doesn’t take an MBA to realize who is beholden to whom. No other nation on earth can come close to replacing the US as a customer for cheap Chinese goods that keep those millions of rural Chinese from starving like they were under central control. Xi has seriously overplayed his hand the chicom bosses are putting great pressure on him to back down sooner rather than later.

The real question I have is whether Trump will allow Xi to save face or continue to push him in to a corner and break him.

But, but...

China's socialist government and the will of it's 800 million people makes it the most powerful country in the world! Just ask any slack-wit Leftie!

It's an article of the True Faith that progressive government is more powerful than any racist, fascist, capitalist oligarch 1%er.

And this is the NYT...

Mr. Trump has shown no sign of backing down

Why in the world would Trump back down? He has ALL the leverage.

The Main Spin Media (MSM) always ignores that China and Europe already had tariffs in place on American goods. They totally ignore that all companies in China are ultimately controlled by the Communist Party.

The ChiComs probably can’t understand why, after a few harsh words, Trump doesn’t back down and fold like Obama, Bush, and Clinton.....

I think the biggest “lesson learned” from Trump’s tariffs on other countries is tariffs work/can work.

There has been this great fear of tariffs ever since the Great Depression.

Post-Trump Presidency, there will be a much greater will to use tariffs without fearing the end of the world as we know it.

Tariffs will be second to Trump’s Federal Court appointees as his greatest accomplishments.

“some worry that the public’s faith in the economy could be shaken, exposing the nation to much more serious problems than a drop in exports.”

btw, there’s no chance our economy will be hurt by President Trump’s actions to finally force our trading partners to engage in fair trading practices because President Trump and the GOP Congress made sure policies were implemented to supercharge our economy first. And because our economy is so much stronger than it’s been in decades, it can absorb any small impacts that might occur before our trading partners agree to fair trade ...
