My son is a damn liberal and my step-son is an army vet, Registered Nurse, will complete Nurse Practitioner School in January and conservative. My son will get a fair share. My step-son will get more than a fair share. Neither share will be small. I love them both the same. I respect my step-son more than my son. Both make very good livings.
Actions have consequences.

My son the liberal was educated at UT Texas and University Las Vegas with several masters degrees. My stepson was educated on the battlefields of Iraq. Two tours as a combat medic. He saw bad on occasion and it was very bad. Oddly mostly Iraqi civilians and sometimes our guys. After the army my stepson has become an educated man. However, his best education was on the battlefield. He returned from the battlefield with rock hard convictions or right and wrong. He saw both.
Stark reality is a harsh teacher. I love them both, but if I need a man to have my back, it is my stepson. He is actually a very kind, gentle and gracious man but does know how to do violence. That is the man you want at your back.
