It doesn’t matter. What matters is he going to do his job? IF not, he should resign. There is no loss of honor in resigning. IF he’s fired, he’s finished for good.
Whatever dirt and/or threats they’ve made to this man need to be revealed, and those doing it brought to justice. Personally, I would not want to be in his shoes.
Bad poll numbers help get rid of just about everyone else. If it is known that a majority of Americans disapprove of Sessions, that makes him easier to remove.
