This was a tragically ugly event. What kind of spite would the man have to be harboring to want to do this — it sounds like it wasn’t even anger at the kids, but rage towards the wife. They were just the sacrificial lambs caught in the middle of it all.
A pistol to the head is the most successful method of suicide. (rifle is second, hanging third). A pistol almost cannot fail, over 99% succeed. It does seem strange this guy could exercise the precision and calm attention necessary to kill two children, and then not pull off the easier task. If he deliberately spared his own life he’s a despicable coward.
Exactly. They intend to perpetually murder in the womb children testing positive for Downs. The tests they use (amnio, etc) were devised to detect certain problems in older women, but now they run them on every pregnancy, specifically to find the down babies. Sadly, of course, there are false positives. On the good side, all the recent publicity (mostly American) about “Iceland Isle of Death” is raising awareness... women there are now starting to give birth to the Down babies.
I’d bet the usual: mental illness and drugs.

True! Killing them in such a gruesome way, and one child forced to see the other die, is twisted and perverse. After all, he could have shot them easily and quickly. The knife makes me more suspicious that mental illness (probably undiagnosed) played some part.

People on death row are routinely kept in their private cells.Sure they’re isolated 23 hours a day. I never said anything different.People killed in prison by other inmates is usually because of gang affiliations, not what they did to their victims. Speedier executions are called for, but even Texas has trouble handing out timely justice

Familicides in this country have been committed by white family members as far back as 1805 that we know of. That guy didn’t bring something new and unheard of from the Congo.

1580 is the earliest known family rampage case in Europe. Only our Heavenly Father knows the complete history of this sort of tragedy.
I hope he won’t survive his jail sentence.
It’s not that good is all on one side, and bad in the other. It’s just hard not to notice a significant statistical correlation, and wonder if it’s such a good idea to import people with a higher than average incidence of bad behavior.
One thing is for sure. You can’t hear the screams of a fetus as it is murdered but you can hear it when an abortionist kills a fetus that survives an abortion. Given the number of children abused and killed in this Republic every week, I think people are shocked by it but not surprised.
