Newt Gingrich: The Trump Republican Party is arising out of a political revolution
Fox News ^ | August 11,2018 | Newt Gingrich

Posted on 08/11/2018 9:28:56 AM PDT by Hojczyk

This is a very important long-term development because it means that in 2019 and beyond the president will have a Republican Party substantially more favorable to his policies. It also means that the never-Trumpers will gradually decline into a less noisy, less relevant part of American politics.

The never-Trumpers are like the Bourbon monarchy, which “had learned nothing and forgotten nothing” (an apocryphal quote from Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord describing the Bourbons’ behavior after the abdication of Napoleon). Because of their inability to change, the Bourbons gradually disappeared as the French Republics created new patterns.

This shrinking and then disappearing process is nothing new.

The warning to Democrats and the media for the November elections should be pretty direct: If President Trump spends September and October defining the election on his terms, the outcome in November might be as shocking to the left as 2016’s was.

The most amazing thing about the Trump effect is how efficient it is.

Simple tweets have helped nominate the GOP candidates for governor and congressional seats in state after state. With this kind of economy of effort, it is no wonder President Trump is doing so many things in parallel.

In the process, the president is growing a Trump Republican Party that will turn the never-Trumpers into a fossilized remnant of bitter-enders that attract smaller and smaller audiences who pay less and less attention.

In short, this is what a political revolution looks like.

Excellent observation by Newt.

Very well stated. I have been thinking the same myself.

Very good.

The Left will continue to show their true, ugly colors and normal, sane people won’t like what they are seeing.

Its a great essay but Trump has a lot to overcome. You have tremendous entrenched moneyed forces aligned against him.

Its going to take a lot more involvement from his supporters and a successor to carry on after Trump is gone in 2024.

Sorry for my lack of enthusiasm for Newts wonderful piece.

Newt is sometimes a lose canon saying one good thing one day and the opposite the next.

I'll wait until next week to find out what his deep state and party elite buddies tell him what he should (re)think about the Trump revolution.

I have to admit that I was not a Trump fan during the campaign, but during his Inaugural Address I sensed something about Trump that changed my mind.

Kim Clement spoke about the president who would come after Obama, not knowing who the man would be, saying that he would not be a praying man before he got into office but would become a praying man.

I feel sorry for conservatives who cannot see the change in him and in the changes that have taken place since the Inauguration.

We have a winner.

With 54 million Twitter followers, big rallies, RNC full coffers and better analytics Potus has what to work with.

Meanwhile the Resist has a media with dwindling ratings and repugnant reporters like Acosta having people turning their TV channel to the food network.

Excellent...during the primaries I was back and forth on Trump but settled and voted for him in the Florida primary. Best thing I’ve done for my country. Proud of my President.

I have been, and I will continue to do so.

We came very, very close to the brink.

A Hillary presidency would have finished off the Republic.

President Trump is actively working to restore it.

There have been several comments in FR from folks who weren’t really keen on Trump (not dyed in the wool Never Trumpers) that have come around and said they now really like the man as president...I’m sure this is happening all over the country...I haven’t heard but maybe one or two say they were disappointed in Trump (I think they were Never Trumpers to begin with)...

In my opinion, he is turning more and more TOWARD him than away...

That has already happened.

Yup. It’s amazing to watch actually, the guy who was attacked by nearly every major Republican in the primary now has 88% support in the Party, and is reshaping it to his liking. A sight to behold!

Newt predicted a 30 seat pickup in 98’. Cost him his job.

One major problem. Once Trump is gone, who is going to fuel these politicians with campaign dollars? The same doners will surface and it will begin all over again. There is only one way to take the money out of politics. TERM LIMITS for these clowns.
