Since Her Initial Disqualification she had been removed from 3 more events, kicked off of The USA Skyrunning Team, and lost a sponsorship More details have emerged regarding Maude Gormans racing history. It has become clear that her racing accomplishments were a lie. She stood on podiums seemingly oblivious to the fact that she stole from those standing next to her or those that were bumped off entirely. I have been in contact with officials from all of these races. The evidence was clear, and their actions were decisive. I received an email on Thursday morning from the races timer, John Adams of Racewire. He informed me that they had actually removed her from the race results on May 31st based on her split times.
At mile 13.8, Maude was 28th out of 52 females. The split mat is in the grove area of the map. By mile 18.1 she had moved up to 19th, and she was 2nd by 29.3 miles.
As I posted in the initial article, Maude was removed from the results. She originally was the 1st place finisher. I applaud the swift and decisive action taken by the race. It is still a shame that Maude stood on the podium, robbing the true finishers of their proper recognition.
Other Repercussions In addition to the disqualifications, Maude was removed from The U.S. Skyrunning Team and has lost her sponsorship with Seven Seas Roasting Co. The reaction was swift from the moment Maudes cheating became public.
Other race directors, timers, teams, and sponsors should take note. Instead of irrational fears of being sued by a cheater, they need to act decisively once they have the evidence that an athlete has cheated. Their concern should be directed towards the honest competitors that worked hard for their finishes.

I think her husband carried her electronic chip or transmitter in one race. She also cut some short loops off another run speeding up her time...loops that others took because they were part of the course.
Her time splits are not possible for her or the course (mountain).
Specifically...
“BASED ON HER SPLITS, I BELIEVE SHE DID THE NORTH SECTION CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME THROUGH, THEN ON THE NEXT TWO LAPS, SHE TURNED AROUND AT THE YURT AID STATION, CUTTING OFF ~6K FROM EACH LOOP, OR ~12K IN TOTAL. THAT WOULD BE FAIRLY CONSISTENT WITH THE PACE SHE RAN IN THE OTHER SECTIONS.
Never knew that was a sport. Interesting.
Bold lies don't work if they are about something actually being measured.
BASED ON HER SPLITS,.....I like her splits.
Yeah, figured that. My point was the article was very flimsy on details. Only that the time splits were off.
The Yurt Aid Station point on the map in the article has 6 trails converging (three in, three out). Stupid design without good oversight.
It is not like the Boston Marathon or a standard point A to point B type race...
Rosie Ruiz (born 1953) is a Cuban American runner who was declared the winner in the female category for the 84th Boston Marathon in 1980, only to have her title stripped eight days after the race when it was discovered that she had not run the entire course.

It is simply amazing how much effort Derek puts into these investigations. Even with incredibly blatant cheats, he operates with the ideal that cheating is the last possible explanation and everything else must be ruled out.
The site would be full of posts if he relied upon flimsy data.
I didn't say the data was flimsy, I said the article was flimsy on details.
Nope, never heard of her.
Ms. Gorman announced on Instagram on July 5 that she was giving up the title, saying, As both a survivor, and advocate for victims rights and sexual violence on a whole, I refuse to stand idly by and simply let this go.
With that being said, giving up a useless title such as that in exchange for publicity is the logical thing to do.
And considering her current actions of cheating, it makes one wonder if she was telling the truth about being a victim of sexual violence...........
To say the least. For someone not familiar with the subject matter, the article is all but incomprehensible
These articles on her suck.
Little hard to follow but here is a local New England story about her.
Who would name a child Maude?
