Judge threatens to hold Sessions in contempt after attempted deportation of migrant woman

A federal judge on Thursday threatened to hold Attorney General Jeff Sessions in contempt after discovering that the Trump administration attempted to transfer a woman and her daughter out of the country while an appeal hearing for their deportation was underway.

U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan granted the American Civil Liberty Union's (ACLU) request for an emergency order to halt the expedited removal of immigrants seeking asylum from domestic abuse and gang violence after he learned the government had put a plaintiff in the case and her daughter on a flight to Central America.

We can’t have a nation until something is done about these rogue judges.

“...order to halt the expedited removal of immigrants seeking asylum from domestic abuse and gang violence after he learned the government had put a plaintiff in the case and her daughter on a flight to Central America.”

If someone claims a threat from domestic abuse and gang-violence, can they be denied asylum?

If not, what’s to prevent virtually anyone from claiming a need for asylum based on those rationales?

I don’t know if the judge really had standing to rule on the matter, but it does seem a little over the top to short-circuit the legal process that was underway.

That being said, I have to question the right of foreign individuals to ‘due process’ when it was their own illegal actions that have brought them to the attention of ‘the authorities.’ Why should someone who enters the country illegally be permitted to use our legal system to stay?

The SC has made themselves quite useless lately.

Would we know the difference if he was locked up?

Congress can remove any member of the Judicial Branch and any member of the Executive Branch.

Congress can also defund or limit and reorganize the other branches (except for the Supreme Court).

Congress has abdicated its responsibilities in favor of spending most of their time trying to steal money from others’ constituents for the benefit of their own.

“So what do you want them to do?”

Ignore them. Make the judge either back down or force a constitutionial crisis so the Supreme Court can slap them down.

Can she lock Sessions up? Would that be a bad thing?

Well, at least we'd know where he is.

This is exactly what happens when a high school student finds out that the adult teacher can't touch them no matter what they do to the teacher. The bratty students go wild.

Now it's the district court judges who are going wild.

They can’t be removed from office, but they can be locked into their offices by a simple federal law.

Congress can also remove the security details from selected federal courthouses.

Courts ruled against Arizona stating “only the federal government can enforce immigration law”.
Now this judge wants to reverse that by fiat.

Federal jurisdiction should be curtailed.

No federal class actions should be allowed.
