Christopher Steele expressed concern last year at a Senate committee’s request for information about the former British spy’s anti-Trump dossier, according to text messages recently provided to Congress.
“Would it be possible to speak later today please? We’re very concerned by the Grassley letter and it’s possible implications for us, our operations and our sources. We need some reassurances,” Steele wrote in a March 7, 2017 text message to Bruce Ohr, who then served as deputy assistant attorney general.
Steele, a former MI6 officer, was seemingly referring to a March 6, 2017 letter that Senate Committee on the Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley sent to then-FBI Director James Comey seeking information about Steele and the dossier.
The text message is part of a trove of documents that the Department of Justice recently provided to several congressional committees investigating the government’s handling of Steele’s dossier. The Hill obtained some of the records and reported on several text message and email exchanges between Ohr and Steele.

Steele and Ohr were in contact throughout the 2016 campaign and well after. Ohr, who was demoted from his top DOJ position in December, briefed the FBI at least 12 times about his interactions with Steele from November 2016 through May 2017.
The briefings occurred, even though the FBI cut ties with Steele because of his unauthorized contacts with the media prior to the election....
Emails provided to Congress and published by The Hill also show that Ohr and his wife, Russia expert Nellie Ohr, met with Steele in Washington, D.C., on July 30, 2016. That was one day before the FBI opened up its counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign’s links to Russia.

Steele to Ohr: “Just want to check you are OK, still in the situ and able to help locally as discussed, along with your Bureau colleagues.”
Ohr to Steele: “I’m still here and able to help as discussed. I’ll let you know if that changes.”
Steele to Ohr: “If you end up out though, I really need another (bureau?) contact point/number who is briefed. We can’t allow our guy to be forced to go back home. It would be disastrous.”
Did the DOJ/FBI divulge to the FISA court the identity of Steele's sources?
My guess is NO.
Who was the "our guy" Steele claims he was worried not be forced to go home?
My guess: Sergei Skripal.
Skripal is the retired Russian intelligence agent living in the UK. Remember, Christopher Steele's cover as an intelligence agent was blown long ago so he can't go to Russia to meet sources. His 'sources' were likely right there in the UK.
I bet Steele was using the claim that Skripal might be sent back to Russia as a pretext for protecting his identity from the FISA court and from Congress. In reality, Skripal was likely in no danger that the UK government would send him back to Russia.
Skripal would have been a useful 'source' to just make up stuff about Trump and Russia. Part of the money Steele was paid by Hillary was probably paid to Skripal. Skripal needed cash to get by in the UK.
Who poisoned Skripal and why? My guess: Russian oligarch supporters of Bill and Hillary.
If Skripal ever talked and said he was Steele's source and that he agreed to just make crap up for the dossier (perhaps based on fantasies from Blumenthal and Shearer provided by Steele), and that Steele knew about it, honest prosecutors might follow the trail from Steele to Brennan, Ohr, Strzok and others perhaps up to Hillary and Barry themselves.
But if he were killed, it would be very convenient to Hillary and Barry. They could say his mysterious 'sources' in Russia connected to the Kremlin will never be known, because he took that knowledge to his grave!
Everyone from British Intelligence to the CIA to the FBI to Hillary and Barry would be happy to have him out of the way, and they could blame his death on Putin.

I never for one second believed that the Russian government had anything to do with the poisonings in Britain, not for one second.
When people speak of the “Deep State” they are speaking of something even bigger than a nation.

Not for the first time in history either. But the main reason the US should abandon NATO. Britain is at best a fascist state now that kidnaps children, and kangaroo courts citizens like Tommy Robinson. Dissolve NATO or kick the Brits out.
Bruce still “works” for the DOJ
Would anyone dare call these actions Treason? Cut to the chase. Britain and some Russians conspired with Hillary’s people to fix and election. BHO’s people tried to make the whole thing happen. Then they tried to get rid of Trump after he won. Trump needs to take all these players to the woodshed. Call it treason. let them plea bargain it down to conspiracy to commit Treason. Life for all.
Blogger Jeff@themarketswork makes the case here that “our guy” referred to by Christopher Steele is actually Julian Assange.
And that there was a feeling that Assange might do things damaging to the interests of the Democrats and Obama and they (Steele, Ohr, etc) tried to broker a deal between Assange and the US government as damage control.
