The rush may be that Mueller is wrapping up his investigation, which may include an indictment of Don Jr. and Kushner for obstruction. We don't know what Mueller has. Remember that the Trump campaign and transition teams were bugged as well as the first nine months of the Trump presidency.
The rumor has been that Mueller wants to wrap this up by September to avoid at least the appearance of trying to impact the midterms. Mueller is still pushing to interview the President.

If Mueller is working on indicting Don Jr. and Kushner, you can bet he will name President Trump as an unindicted co-conspirator as they did to Nixon in Watergate.
Mueller doesn’t have to prove anything in an indictment...just name it an let it hang out there.
