I forgot to add that my post may seem extreme. I base my post on history that is often repeated. This is nothing new. It happened in the Greek and Roman Empires and others.
Great Empires are ultimately defeated by external forces because they became internally corrupt. They no longer had the will to resist as it was mostly “Bread and Circus” for the population, which I define today as the Congress of the United States.
I fear we are now Rome.
It is a good observation. I have the same fear except that we are post fall of Rome.
We are not et tu brutus. Optimistically speaking, I think we have seen the corruption. The cyclical cycle that is Rome and history is over and we are in a new awakening.
But, like I said, I’m just an optimist about it. Like them pompay (potpie in autism critters) (or auto correct again))people in that song.
I saw a lot of similarities with what has been going on in the U.S., when I read a book about the fall of the Roman Empire.
I fear we are now Rome.

I agree. I’m afraid 2016-2024 will be looked upon as a speed bump.
I have been saying this for some years now... and NOW the barbarian is at the gates. You have rightly said that the Congress has become a circus - a do nothing but squabble body of squawking parrots just like the Roman Senate - parrots who spend their energies feathering their own nests at the expense of the Republic!
That civil breakdown led to the Caesars and a militaristic empire. PRAY!
